Recently, the new curtain coating device which was developed by our company has successfully completed its with-starch commissioning in China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute.

The working principle of curtain coater is that the starch passes through the nozzle with very narrow slot and forms a very thin fluid film, then flow down to the paper (formed a liquid curtain in nozzle---the starch curtain flow down and accelerate---the curtain lashing onto the movable webs). The curtain coating is of high efficiency and good coating quality, quite easy to operate, moreover, it is environmental friendly because it can save energy and reduce consumption. It is becoming more and more necessary to replace air-knife or blade coater with curtain coater, which is of a broad future. At the beginning of 2013, our company has signed a cooperation contract with China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute. Our company is in charge of developing curtain coating device, while China National Pulp and Paper Institute in charge of coating materials, which we complement each other.
